Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the backbone of any campaign. The most effective method of attracting attention is a personal visit from the candidate or a volunteer.

In addition to knocking on doors, I expect to hold events that will require the assistance of volunteers to welcome potential voters and make sure that they are engaged and educated about our campaign.

If you've ever thought about getting involved in the political process NOW is the time to do it. Help us to bring a fresh approach to Washington, one that is localy focused but globally aware. We need to take control of our destinies and bring hope and imaginative ideas to the big challenges of our times.

What You Can Do

Knock on doors for the campaign. Talking to people directly is the best way of getting their attention. We'll give you maps of likely democratic voters and talking points that reflect my positions.
Help to frame the issues. There are many issues that I have not had a chance to write a position paper on. Help me to put my ideas on paper and on the web. If you decide to help me with this, we'll sit down together, I'll explain what I believe and then let you do the research and write the paper. Then I will review it, sit down with you again and work out a final draft. When it's done, it will get reviewed again by the campaign committee and then we'll print it and put it on the web.
Call people. At some point we'll probably call some likely voters to try and get them motivated to go to the polls and/or to find out what they're thinking. Calling is hard work, but it will teach you a lot about getting a message out there.
Help with rallies. As we get closer to the election, we'll hold rallies to communicate with voters. Each event will require extensive planning and volunteers to ensure that it is as good as it can possibly be.
Provide feedback. I will always be looking to my volunteers to help me make sure I'm communicating effectively with the voters. As a volunteer, you will have access to me directly and will be able to tell me what you think about the issues and about the campaign. Did I mention that I love to cook? You can count on eating well at my meetings!
Help run the campaign. I will be counting on my volunteers to ensure that we meet our goals, be they getting mailings out, knocking on doors or providing support at events. A campaign like this - especially one that is starting so late, will require extensive organization which I expect will be done mostly by volunteers.
